URGENT - 31 May cut-off to report past abuse

 

URGENT - This Friday 31 May is the final opportunity to seek redress for abuse suffered in the Australian Defence Force through the Defence Abuse Response Taskforce. LGBTI people who suffered abuse should use up this final opportunity to register an allegation before the opportunity closes.

The Minister for Defence has announced that 31 May 2013 will be the cut-off for the Taskforce accepting new allegations about abuse in Defence that are alleged to have occurred prior to 11 April 2011.

All that is required by the 31 May 2013 cut-off date is that a person registers notice of their allegation by contacting the Taskforce (via the Hotline on 1800 424 991 or at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), providing their contact details, and indicating that they wish to bring a complaint to the Taskforce about alleged abuse in Defence prior to 11 April 2011.

All documentation (for example, including a detailed personal account about the alleged abuse, or any application form that may be required to be completed in order to seek a reparation payment) may be provided after the cut-off date of 31 May 2013.
