
Defence Force Recruiting and DEFGLIS have taken out Fair Day Stall of the Year at this years Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras awards.
The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras hold an awards night on an annual basis at the culmination of the Mardi Gras Festival. The awards night is aimed to recognise and thank members, groups and allies of the LGBTI community who have made an exceptional contribution throughout the festival.
This year DEFGLIS and the Australian Defence Force was represented by Loretta Cincotta, Stuart Obrien and Jason Duvall. The three where honored to have the opportunity to accept the award in conjunction with Defence Force Recruiting.
2015 was the second year that Defence Force Recruiting has supported Fair Day. Members of DEFGLIS assisted the recruiters throughout the day by manning the stall and engaging with the community.

Cooper Kereopa, a volunteer for the stall, said that the opportunity to engage with the LGBTI community at Fair Day was instrumental in furthering the reputation of Defence within the wider Australian community.
“I couldn’t have been prouder to support DFR and DEFGLIS at fair day; opportunities like this are instrumental in displaying the progress that defence has made to the wider community,” said Kereopa
“I am proud to be part of a diverse organisation and to have the opportunity to showcase some of that diversity.”
The annual Mardi Gras festival is a show stopping calendar event that holds much significance in not just the LGBTI community but throughout the wider Australian community.
