Defence responds with 'Pathway to Change'

Defence has released its response to recent inquiry reports looking into ADF culture and the review of allegations of sexual and other abuse in Defence.

The ADF Review of Personal Conduct (Orme) focuses strongly on ADF culture and puts forward a strategy to enhance the reliability of personal conduct of ADF personnel.  The strategy expressed is consistent with the views of DEFGLIS; which is that diversity initiatives are needed at the Force-wide, unit, and individual levels to foster a culture of inclusion.

DEFGLIS welcomes the recommendations made in the Orme Report that proposes a substantial cultural change strategy that goes well beyond policy improvement.  This type of change could yield substantial improvements for the wellbeing and inclusion of LGBTI personnel and a substantial improvement in the performance of personnel who aren't out.  Accordingly, DEFGLIS will seek opportunities to work with Defence during the implementation of the "Pathways to change" program to ensure the consideration of LGBTI personnel during cultural change initiatives.
