DEFGLIS Brisbane Co-ordinator Karl Metzger is raising money with his unit for Legacy Australia. Earlier this month, Karl spent five days living below extreme poverty line to raise $1180.00 for the anti-poverty campaign "Living Below the Line."

On 14 June 2013, 5 teams from the 2nd General Health Battalion (2 GHB) will run a total of 100km around Brisbane City (Southbank), using their strength to show ongoing support to Legacy and their committment to so many people in their time of need.
This month, Metzger got a taste of how the 1.2 billion people around the world living in extreme poverty survive living on just $2 of food a day. He joined thousands of young Australians who gave up their normal lives for five days.
“Everyone has the power to make a difference rather than just talk about it,” he said.
In countries just north of Australia - such as Cambodia and Papua New Guinea - people live without running water or access to schools and medical care.
Last year the campaign raised almost $2 million, which helped fund educational projects in Cambodia. This year the campaign hopes to raise over $2.5 million.
Live Below the Line is the major fundraising campaign for the Oaktree Foundation, Australia’s largest youth-run aid and development organisation.
