ACON's latest research shows that around 15% of men don't think about HIV and routinely engage in unprotected anal sex with other men.
Nearly all HIV infections in gay men are the result of anal sex without condoms. Contributing to new infections are men who don't think they are positive, a minority who think about HIV but occasionally have unprotected sex despite the risk, and 15% of men who don't think about HIV and have unprotected sex for enjoyment.
