Recommendations that will lead to one of the largest organisational transformations seen by the Department of Defence and Australian Defence Force have been adopted by Australian Government and the Australian Defence Force.
The Defence Minister Kevin Andrews made the announcement and the official public release of the "First Principles Review: Creating One Defence" report at Parliament alongside Dr David Peever, Chair of the Review Committee and the Secretary and Chief of Defence Force.
75 out of 76 recommendations in the Defence First Principles Review have been agreed to, or agreed to in principle.

Nation-wide commemorations took place in each state to mark the end of Operation SLIPPER.
Among DEFGLIS members taking part was Army Officer Cadet Patrick Lockyer, who deployed on Operation SLIPPER shortly after joining the Defence Force as a Private when he was 20 years old.

Defence’s largest contingent to march in this year’s Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras displayed the organisation’s commitment to an inclusive and diverse culture.
For the first time, the group was led by the senior enlisted members of Defence - Warrant Officer of the Navy, Martin Holzberger; Regimental Sergeant Major of the Army, Warrant Officer David Ashley; and Warrant Officer of the Air Force, Mark Pentreath.
