DEFGLIS Brisbane Co-ordinator Karl Metzger is raising money with his unit for Legacy Australia. Earlier this month, Karl spent five days living below extreme poverty line to raise $1180.00 for the anti-poverty campaign "Living Below the Line."

On 14 June 2013, 5 teams from the 2nd General Health Battalion (2 GHB) will run a total of 100km around Brisbane City (Southbank), using their strength to show ongoing support to Legacy and their committment to so many people in their time of need.

International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia will be celebrated in the Australian Defence Force this year with a number of events occurring at various units and bases around Australia.  DEFGLIS has put together a prezi to help raise awareness of LGBTI people and encourage greater inclusion.

Australians and New Zealanders have a long history of partnership and cooperation.  Our countries are neighbours with friendship firmly rooted in our shared ethics, values, and adorable accents that other English speakers around the world tend to mix up.  Our kinship is clearly evident in our cultural, sporting, and social connections, including our longstanding military partnership, with a strong ANZAC history bridging the Tasman Sea.

The Australian Defence Force was awarded the Mardi Gras Parade GOLD AWARD for the Show Stopping Parade Entry.

Congratulations to all participants who helped to celebrate greater inclusion of all sexual orientations, sex and gender identities to strengthen capability. A spectacular first appearance by the Australian Defence Force that will be remembered for years to come.

Warrant Officer Stuart O'Brien accepted the award on behalf of the Australian Defence Force.

"DEFGLIS will continue to advocate for greater LGBTI education and training for Defence personnel, and the establishment of improved support arrangements for LGBTI personnel as we have done since we first heard about this incident," said Vince Chong, Chair of DEFGLIS. "We continue to extend friendship and support to LTCOL Morgan and his family, and we hope for the expeditious resolution of his complaint."
